Lil Yachty's album, Let's Start Here. breaks the boundaries of his traditional sound. Breaking away from being just a rapper, Lil Yachty proves that he is more than just a rapper, but an artist as well. He embraces the fusion of multiples styles like psychedelic rock, hip hop and pop creating a unique listening experience. From the opening track to the closing, Let's Start Here. takes listeners on a journey through Lil Yachty's evolving musical landscape. Tracks like "the BLACK seminole." and "THE zone~" are vastly different than anything that he has produced before. These song perfectly capture his experimentation with the psychedelic rock sound. My favorite songs on the album are "running out of time" "drive ME crazy!" and "IVE OFFICIALLY LOST VISION!!!!" However, it's not just the music that shines on "Let's Start Here." Lil Yachty's lyrics delve into themes of self discovery, fame, and failure giving a deep dive into Lil Yachty's experiences. Overall, Let's Start Here."encapsulates Yachty's artistic vision and growth as an artist.
Lil Uzi Vert wastes no time in establishing his unique sound, blending elements of trap, emo rap, and rock. Blending genres isn't new to Lil Uzi, but Pink Tape goes above and beyond what he's realeased prior to this album. There are more elements of rock in this current project featuring artist like Bring Me the Horizon on "Werewolf" and Baby Metal on "The End". My favorites on this album are "Flooded the Face" and "Spin Again". These songs execute the fusion of trap and rock creating a great album for those looking for an experimental sound with upbeat tracks.
This Is Why is Paramore's sixth studio album. Paramore started about 20 years ago and they have evolve with each album. I have a personal connection to this album because as a long time Paramore fan (going on 15 years!), I have watched their evolution and growth while growing alonside of them. This Is Why stays true to their rock roots with a new twist of pop influences in their sound. My favorite songs are "Running Out of Time", "Big Man, Little Dignity," and "Figure 8". Hayley Williams, the lead singer, is a powerhouse vocalist and This Is Why exhibits her amazing vocal abilities.
