Tumblr played a big role in discovering my hobbies. I discovered Tumblr in high school which played a big role in my creative expression and helped me discover different hobbies and skills. I was exposed to many different photography styles and even learned how to customize themes using HTML and CSS. I took my blog very seriously and made sure that every picture or post would fit the overall aesthetic on my page. Through this, my interest in photography and layout design was born.
I was so heavily inspired by photographs on Tumblr, I began film photography in high school. From this class I learned the fundamentals of photography and how to develop your personal artistic style. As I started to get more serious about photography, I bought my first camera, a Minolta Maxxum 70 which helped me create some of my best photos. One of the things I enjoy most about working with film is how personal the process is. From shooting the photos to devloping the film and making prints, it's such a rewarding feeling to create something entirely on your own from start to finish. I love the renaissance of using point and shoot film cameras and the casual aspect of it. Now, I enjoy using film not only to create artistic photos but to capture fun memories as well.
Recently, I began my journey into media design through my major. Although I have always had an eye for design, I desperately wanted to create something of my own. Prior to taking the media design course, I had very limited knowledge working with Adobe Software. I felt a little intimidated starting out with no previous experience, but once I got accustomed, I quickly fell in love with design. Throughout the course, we created flyers, newletters, app prototypes, and magazine spreads. My favorite project was working on the magazine spread. I found myself completely absorbed in the design process, losing track of time in the midst of my creative flow. I enjoyed working on the project so much that I started creating multiple designs just for fun. My newfound passion has led me to wanting to pursue a career in creating magazines and flyers, specifically in the music industry.
